NEW SPORTS COMPLEX IN ALICANTE

The project of a new sports complex in Alicante was shown by representatives of the city authorities. There are plans to build a sports facility between the Playa de San Juan and PAU 4 and PAU 5 districts.

Its total area will be 75 thousand square meters. The sports complex will create conditions for playing football, mini-football, basketball, rugby, volleyball, badminton, and handball.

The sports complex will be built in three stages. The first stage of construction is predicted to be completed in 2023. It is assumed that by this time the following will be implemented:

• football field with artificial turf;
• space for playing beach volleyball;
• standard rugby field;
• two multifunctional semi-covered platforms;
• track for bicycles BMX;
• climbing wall.

During the second phase of construction, it is planned to reconstruct the Sergio Melgares park. This must be done so that visitors can freely and quickly move from the sports complex to the park and vice versa.

At the final stage of construction work, it is planned to equip parking lots for "mobile homes" and spacious areas for cultural and entertainment events, such as concerts. In 2024, they plan to put the sports complex into operation if the established construction deadlines are met and no force majeure occurs.
